Matters to TV schedulers, but that's a pretty short sighted approach
Again, like baseball and their fussin and whining about pitch clocks and mound visits. All of that is focused on the total time of the game. But fans change the channel when the batter steps out and fiddles every pitch and the umpire calls a tight zone and every at bat goes 8 or 9 pitches. Viewers want action and will sit for as long as it takes if they are entertained.
Refs calling ticky tac fouls and such do more to slow a game down and ruin the entertainment value than anything. Last night was great because it flowed. Bodies were banging, when there was a real foul it got called but for the most part, little stuff that didn't create an advantage was left alone...they way it should be. Fans were engaged, so the fouling down the stretch didn't matter. If that leads to a shorter total time, fine, but fans want to be entertained and game action entertains.
